Instagram is a booming social media platform with over a billion active users. There can be numerous reasons behind it but, one that scores the most is the ability to make money from Instagram.
Earlier, Instagram was used to post anything random but now, things have changed.
Instagram offers so much more than that!
It’s free and anyone can do it.
Since it is a platform, brands can come here and promote their product by partnering with bloggers. In return, bloggers will get paid.
Do you want to know how to become an Instagram Blogger? You are at the right place.
Here, I will tell you some practical tips, tricks, and methods that can use to set up an Instagram account and making money within a month.
How to become an Instagram blogger and make money?
The main source of a blogger’s income is affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is an arrangement where a brand pays a commission for each sale provided by the blogger.
When visitors click on the link and purchase the item, the blogger gets a commission from Amazon.
You’ll be paid for leads generated by you and you can make money blogging using this method.
It’s that simple!
Some people even make millions of dollars just by using affiliate marketing method. This is a very powerful way of generating passive income.
You can also sell digital products or even physical products to your followers.
You can even do both. Start out as an affiliate marketer, and once you gain some popularity you can start investing in your own products and start selling them.
Find your Niche
Finding the right niche is very important for you to get started with Instagram blogging. There are many niches and you can easily find yourself lost.
But, if you choose a profitable niche, then you can enjoy what you are doing and making money alongside.
Finding the right niche can be tough!
But, do not worry I have a method to find the right niche that suits your personality and likings.
Ask yourself, what is it that I am good at?
Cooking, dancing, painting, or photography, could be anything. Sometimes you can be good at multiple things. So, consider both. We can filter one particular niche later.
Once you find it, another question that you want to ask yourself is, Is there any market for what I like doing?
Without a market, you won’t be making any money. A good market is where you can find a lot of people.
Where you can find a lot of people, you’ll definitely find a lot of brands.
You just need to hit the sweet spot between these two paradigms. Believe me or not everyone in this world has special skills that fall in that sweet spot.
Just required a little brainstorming and you’ll end up with a niche.
Here are some of the list of niches that you can choose from-
- lifestyle blog
- travel blog
- interior design
- specific cities
- Photo manipulation (aka photoshopped photos)
To make it easier, you can use the Mind Meister tool.
It can help you organize niches and help you boost productivity. Another reason why I recommend this tool is for content planning which brings us to our next point.
Plan your Content
“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
― Benjamin Franklin
Planning and preparing your content makes your life so much easy that without this you would find yourself chained to Instagram blogging.
Without a good plan, you can never learn how to become an Instagram blogger.
You need to plan beforehand what images, stories, or videos are going to be uploaded on my Instagram account.
Since Instagram is a photo and video sharing platform, you need to upload high-quality images especially when you want to attract brands.
Having good quality equipment is essential, but, honestly, you can start with your smartphone as well and later on switch to quality equipment.
If you ask me, then I recommend Fujifilm X-T30 which is one of the best mirrorless cameras you can get your hands on.
Another piece of equipment that you can buy is a professional tripod from Coman, which offers stability while you click a photograph.
But, if you have a small budget then as I said, you can start just with your smartphone.
Another tool that I recommend is Instagram management tools. Creating content, posting them, and finding a brand partner, requires a lot of time and energy to manage.
With an Instagram management tool, it can become 10 times easy.
You can set your content post beforehand and can literally post your entire month of content in one day.
I recommend using Tailwind which is a brilliant social media management tool used by big brands to manage their own social media platform especially Instagram and Pinterest.
You just have to set up the tool to post images, stories, and reels for specific dates and it will automatically upload the posts.
Trust me! It becomes very convenient to do your job with this tool.
Maintain your Aesthetics
You need to maintain the aesthetics of your Instagram account to attract new followers and grow your insta community.
The goal of Instagram is not only to post pictures or videos but the real purpose behind it is to connect it with others using visual means.
To maintain the aesthetics, you must follow a theme that matches your personality. Your visitors should feel the vibes once they land on your Instagram account.
It’ll not only please them visually but also help them in connecting with you on a personal level.
Instagram Influencers with theme-based content stand out from the crowd and also get loyal followers.
Take @colorpalette.cinema for example, I’ve been following them for years and their theme hasn’t changed.
They upload cinematic color pallets of the movie which looks amazing.
Another great example is @symmetrybreakfast, they post images of food in a symmetrical pattern.
It looks phenomenal and is one of the best examples of following the theme consistently.
Create Quality Content
It’s a no-brainer that quality content is a must to become an Instagram blogger.
The difference between an average content creator and a professional Instagram content creator is the quality of content.
Now, the question comes, how to create quality content? Well, here is what I recommend!
Find at least 5 Instagram account in your niche that best resembles your taste and have a good number of followers.
Now, create content just like them and of course, add your own touch to add personality.
You can get blog post ideas from them and a little tweak would give you an amazing post.
Why 5 insta accounts? So that you can compare which content is performing the best.
You can track it by using Instagram analytics.
Your Instagram analytics is the best tool for you to curate and deliver content based on numbers.
When you know, this content is working and this is not, then you can make smart choices for picking the right content.
For editing photos, you can use CanvaPro or any other app but canva is the best for creating graphic designs and image editing.
It would help you in creating stories and reels as well.
The best part is that it offers pre-built templates which remove any hassle of creative thinking.
You just have to edit those templates and get your Instagram post ready. You can also edit reels and create videos using canva which makes it even more appealing.
Use Instagram Algorithms to your Advantage
If you want to know how to become an Instagram blogger then you would need to understand how the Instagram algorithm works.
Instagram has billions of users and to cater requirements of all of them is impossible but with an algorithm, it’s easy.
Instagram updates its algorithm regularly and as a blogger, you must keep a tab on these algorithm changes.
For example, recently Instagram updated its algorithm to ranked feed, which has improved post visibility by 50%.
Now, Instagram prioritizes posts based on how interesting they can be for the audience and not their relevance.
Despite algorithm being a game-changer, some things are core to Instagram’s algorithm and can never change.
Instagram deploys 100’s of algorithm change every day so it becomes hard for you to keep up.
Here are some tips based on my experience which guarantee you the result despite any algorithm change.
One of those things is posting content frequently.
When you are starting, you should try to post as much as you can so that Instagram pushes your content to different audiences.
Well, I recommend post at least 3 times a day, 2-3 Instagram stories a day, 2-3 Instagram reels a day, and at least 1 IGTV video in a week.
You should also try to generate a lot of engagements on those posts like comments, and sharing the post.
Build your Community
Once your Instagram account starts to get traction, you should focus on building community.
Building your community is the second step towards learning how to become an Instagram blogger.
To build a community, you can use the 5 best Instagram account lists that you created earlier.
Visit the profile and check who is following that account and try to engage with them.
Try to reach out to at least 20 people each day, you just have to open their latest post and slip in a comment and like.
Liking and commenting on their post will help you in getting noticed.
They will definitely appreciate it and sometimes they can even follow you.
Since they are following someone within your niche so chances are they will follow you back as well.
Make sure you are genuine with your approach otherwise they will ignore you and you can lose a prospected follower.
Leave a comment in their post which is meaningful and adds value to their life.
Monetize your Instagram Account
Our purpose behind learning about how to become an Instagram blogger is to earn money from Instagram using affiliate marketing.
What’s the purpose of doing all this and not make money blogging?
If you want to monetize a blog, you would need brand partners.
It can be hard to find brands but not with ShareAsale, it is a platform where brands and Instagram influencers meet.
ShareAsale helps bloggers in reaching out to the brands which would otherwise be very tough.
It is not impossible but ShareASale helps a lot but there are other great platforms as well.
- Awin (Formerly Affiliate Window)
- Amazon Associates
- CJ Affiliate (Formerly Commission Junction)
- Rakuten Marketing (Formerly LinkShare)
- eBay Partner Network
- Walmart Affiliates
You can also reach out to local businesses in your area like a food outlet, restaurant, campsite, etc., and ask them for a sponsorship.
Some of the local brands also have an Instagram account, just DM them and ask them for sponsorship.
You can also join groups dedicated to Instagram influencers on Facebook and connect with the social media manager.
Make sure you are developing a good relationship with these people as they can offer you sponsorship more than once.
If you are using Instagram for a while, then you might have noticed that now Instagram allows you to follow hashtags as well along with the Instagram account.
This now allows digital content creators to display their posts on profiles that do not follow you.
This change works with the rankfeed algorithm update to serve people with the best and most interesting content.
The hashtag is an important part of Instagram blogging, you have to master hashtags to become successful.
The maximum hashtag that you can use is 30 hashtags per post.
You should not use hashtags like #love, #life, etc. these hashtags are very generic and do not serve much of a purpose.
What you need is specific hashtags for your account, since you are just starting out, you should focus on low competitive hashtags.
Make a list of at least 60-70 hashtags with below 500K and above 50K posts.
Whenever you are posting, pick random 30 from this list.
Make sure you keep updating this list each month for better reach.
If you want to automate the process, I have a tool to recommend called Tailwind.
It is a tool that comes with a hashtag finder and helps you with hashtags. You can signup now and avail free 30 days trial on the Tailwind tool.
Use the Latest Features of Instagram
Whenever Instagram releases a new feature, they try it push as much as possible to the users.
You can use that feature (as much as you can) and Instagram will try to push your account to others as well.
It’s pretty simple right!
When Instagram released Reels, a normal account with just 500 followers was getting more than a million views on their reels which subsequently increased their followers as well.
Carousal is yet another feature that Instagram pushed a lot.
When carousal was launched, users with carousal posts were easily discoverable on the explorer page which means more engagement and followers.
So, whenever Instagram launches new features, use it as much as you can and try to increase engagement.
The purpose of social media platforms is to connect people together and build communities.
If you want to know how to become an Instagram blogger, you have to work on your intra-personal skills.
Connecting with people and genuinely helping them, entertaining them, adding value into people’s lives is essential to become an influencer.
Apart from this, you must keep a tab on your analytics and insights, which will help you to strategize your content. As they say, numbers never lie!
I hope you find my tips and personal experiences with Instagram helpful make sure to use the tools mentioned above to increase productivity.
