Let’s cut to the chase, you love representing your life to the people and want to make BIG bucks through it – but unable to find out how to start a lifestyle blog and make money from it.
If you are wondering how to be a lifestyle blogger, this detailed guide will teach you the exact step-by-step process.
I’ll make you wait no more. Jump right into the first step:
Determining The Focus of Your Lifestyle Blog
When starting a new lifestyle blog, you should know what kind of content you will target.
Following are the most considerable options for a lifestyle blog. Concerning my experience, I recommend the first one.
Reviewing Products You May Have Used
Wait! Reviewing products? What is it? Let me elaborate!
It’s not very long since you googled something like “best (wireless headphone)” before making a purchase. Right?
When you pressed the search button, what did you see? A whole lot of articles from different blogs. (image below)
Now, when you open a webpage, there might be many product recommendations – each coming with an affiliate link leading to Amazon or an affiliate program.
Whenever someone makes a purchase, the blog earns a small commission – known as affiliate marketing in other words.
If done right, affiliate marketing can earn you thousands of dollars.

Advising Your Visitors
Bringing forth advice for your visitors is another great thing you could do with a blog.
If you focus on this kind of content and take care of providing quality to the readers, you’ll soon have a large visitor community coming to your site regularly.
But what will be the way of getting paid? Uh, how could we forget?
Well, although affiliate marketing may not work here, you could still place ads. As your blog grows, you might also start getting sponsored by companies and get paid well.
Storytelling: Sharing What You’ve Gone Through
Another major content format large lifestyle blogs focus on is storytelling and sharing with people what you’ve gone through.
Now, this is where Google searches alone won’t drive a lot of visitors. Instead – for this kind of blog – you’ll have to do the (social media) marketing more and build an audience.
The payment source will be the same as in advising articles; ads + sponsors.
Can You Create All These Kinds of Content?
You can surely create all these types of content. But…I would recommend paying attention to a single content format at the start and get broader as your blog grows.
Picking The Niche for Your Lifestyle Blog
If you want to know “how to start a lifestyle blog and make money”, you should know that picking a micro-niche for your lifestyle blog is important.
Wait, what? Isn’t “lifestyle” a niche itself? Huh?
Yeah, it is a niche itself. But due to the bazillions of aspects in itself, there are micro-niches as well.
If you want people to come to your blog and consider yourself as an authority – specializing in something specific – you’ve got to choose a micro-niche in lifestyle.
Wait, what? Won’t it limit my visitors?
Yeah, it may – covering different categories will surely get you a broader audience – but how will you stand out among the thousands of other blogs on the same niche?
Therefore, specializing in a specific niche is not only a part of content marketing but helps you conquer the Google searches and win your audience in many ways.
But what micro-niche would be the best for your lifestyle blog?
Following are some suggestions from my end:
Beauty blog – people are more conscious about their beauty than ever. You can help them by sharing helpful tips on beauty.
Fashion blog – If you think that sharing the latest trends of fashion with people interests you, fashion can be the right niche for you.
Food – Are you a food freak and interested in cooking, evaluating the food of different places, or such? If so, you might want to consider food.
Hobbies – You can have a variety of hobbies like camping, traveling, and photography. If you want to share helpful tips about them with people, consider a blog focused on your hobbies.
Come up With an Available Domain Name
So, you’ve set the goals for your upcoming blog and determined what you’re going to focus on, the next step is choosing a domain name.
“Wait, what’s a domain name?”
Well, let me elaborate.
You’ve never seen a business without a name. Right?
Whatever the name of a business is, when its presence is also online, its domain name is something like businessname.com.
In other words, the domain name of Amazon is Amazon.com, Apple is Apple.com, and so on.
Similarly, when you start a blog – an online business – it’s crucial to have a domain name.
Since this business name is for an online business, the rules might be different as compared to physical businesses.
Firstly, the name you pick must not have been picked before.
But how do you find out whether the domain name is available or not? For this, I recommend using a domain registrar such as NameCheap.com.
Once you open the Namecheap website, type in the name you want to get. It’ll show you whether it’s available or not. (image below)
When picking a domain name, there are some other aspects to consider, too. Such as;
It should be memorable – Consider your blog as a physical shop and the domain name as its address, will you be able to go there if you don’t even remember its address?
Probably no. The same is with the domain name and your blog.
Keep it short – Find the smallest domain name possible.
It should be relevant – Keep it relevant to your blog. It’s better if it simplifies what your blog is about.
Including a keyword is better – having a specific domain name containing the blog’s target keyword is beneficial for SEO purposes.
For a laptop reviewing blog, keeping the word “laptop” in the domain name would be better.
The hosting services like BlueHost include a domain name for free along with Webhosting purchases. (More on that later).
But if you just want to buy a domain without Webhosting, NameCheap can do that for you for a cheap price.
Purchasing Domain & Web Hosting
Before we come to a hosting provider, let’s understand what is web hosting?
Suppose that you’re going to start a physical business – like launching a toy store. What’s the most crucial thing you need for it other than the name?
It’s probably the piece of land where it’ll stand upon. Right?
Consider your blog as the toy store and the piece of land as the hosting.
In the online world, the websites are running on computers – provided on rent by the companies – so that they can be accessed 24/7 worldwide.
Now, these companies offering computers on the rent are known as web hosts and the service is known as hosting.
Now, what’s the best hosting provider for a lifestyle blog?
My #1 recommendation is Bluehost.
Bluehost is the best blogging platform for beginners because of its one-click installation process in WordPress.
It offers an incredible price value and their shared plans – best for starting blogs – also include a free domain for a year.
Furthermore, BlueHost includes all other essentials such as a free SSL certificate, a backup survive, and oh, how could we forget? The 24/7 customer assistance is also in place!
You can get the the starter plan of Bluehost for just $2.95/month if you purchase it with below link.
Setting up Your Blog
So, you’ve successfully purchased a domain and hosting. In other words, you’ve successfully brought or rented a piece of land.
What will you do now?
Probably construct a shop, store, etc., where the customers will come. Right?
Similarly, it’s crucial to build your blog on domain & hosting to bring visitors.
But what’s the way? Let’s see.
Once you buy domain & hosting, the hosting service takes you to their user portal where you can manage your hosting account.
There you get the options for deploying SSL certificates, managing other stuff, and installing a content management system to post and manage your content so that people can read and visualize it.
So, what’s the best content management system to look out for?
Well, it’s WordPress. Yeah, it’s free and available for 1-click install with BlueHost.
Installing The Right Theme
One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is not choosing the right theme or choosing a free theme.
I understand if you are just starting out, you are on a budget, and investing a lot of money on themes will be a pain.
And I don’t recommend buying an expensive theme even. But if you go with free themes you are limiting yourself for making money with your blog.
It’s just not about starting a blog a right? You want to monetize. Then you need to consider investing an initial small amount to make big bucks at a later stage.
That’s why I recommend Divi from Elegant themes
Divi is a beginner-friendly WordPress theme with a drag and drop feature that allows you to create a stunning-looking website even if you have zero skill in web designing.
That’s the power of Divi theme. I just love them because they made my life so much easier.
The theme is known best for the versatility of the customization options you get. On top of that, the theme comes specialized and optimized for lifestyle blogs.
Divi comes at a yearly price of $89 or a one-time payment of $249 for time access which is considered a fair price for the value that they provide.
However, if the Divi theme doesn’t suit you, my second recommended theme is the Genesis Pro from Studiopress.
I have written a list post on the best WordPress themes. You can check it out here.
Installing The Essential Plugins for WordPress
Did you know installing the useful plugins on your WordPress could effectively help you save time and so much more in the less?
Although there are many plugins available, the following are some of my recommendations for a lifestyle blog.
RankMath– This is my favorite SEO tool that helps me channelize the SEO with little to no effort. It helps to oversee and analyze the SEO performance and readability of the content.
MonsterInsights – helps to track your website analytics right from your WordPress dashboard. It is the #1 Google analytics plugin for WordPress in the market.
WP Rocket– helps to boost the overall loading speed of your blog to both perform well in search results and enhance the user experience.
That’s it! You’re Ready to Blog
After doing this much work, give a pat on your back because now you’re finally ready to blog.
It’s time to either create the content yourself or hire content writers.
Hiring a writer comes with a price. And you would not want to do that when you just starting out your blogging journey.
I totally get you! I was there in your shoes and I had no much money to invest in such things when I was a beginner.
So I had to learn the hard way by putting all the effort into myself.
Honestly, It’s all worth it today!
However, if you have the budget to hire writers, then you can check out Fiverr. You can find awesome writers for a reasonable price.
The pros of hiring writers are that you can speed up publishing more articles thus it will help you start earning your first buck quickly.
But if you start creating whatever you want, it will not work well.
You see, there’s a lot of competition on Google. If you want to earn BIG bucks, it’s essential to score well in the Google search results.
And what does it require?
A proper strategy for creating content and doing the SEO (more on this below).
But don’t get overwhelmed. Just take inspiration and tips from other bloggers, pay attention to providing quality to your readers, do proper SEO, and that’s it.
Marketing Your Blog
One of the most crucial things to grow a blog is marketing it.
You see, there are over 600 million blogs on the internet today. Six. Hundred. Million. Oh my!
This way, the competition is at its peak and so, it’s important to find visitors rather than waiting and just waiting.
So, it becomes crucial to pay some attention to digital marketing.
Want a free yet effective resource for learning digital marketing? No need to go away.
Consider my own digital marketing free course that explains every aspect of digital marketing and how to use them in the right way.
Nevertheless, the following are some strategies that can be used to drive traffic to your blog and find the right readers that’ll help you in making money.
Doing SEO The Right Way
How is your blog going to get traffic? Through Google!.
How will Google get you traffic? By tracking the relevance of keywords and other stuff.
How we optimize our content for search engines like Google is known as SEO. Consider it as a science for ranking on Google and getting more visits.
Not just that, SEO is the most significant factor that I consider more my website. This is because SEO is so powerful to drive endless blog traffic for FREE.
You heard me right, SEO can drive you FREE traffic.
But the challenge is, SEO TAKES TIME!!!
You need to be patient enough to rank your website on Google’s first page.
All you must do is keep creating evergreen content, be consistent in publishing them and wait till Google ranks you.
There is so much more to talk about SEO. I cannot cover them here because of the depth of this topic.
If you a beginner or intermediate blogger, you may not know the clever strategies to outrank your competition on Google’s 1st page.
It requires skills and the question is how do you gain that?
You can surely gain by watching free YouTube videos and by testing many things out by yourself but it will take a hell lot of time.
And that’s why it is not a wise thing to do because SEO traffic itself takes time and you don’t want to spend another 1 or 2 years just learning the skills the hard way.
I highly highly recommend the SEO mastery course created by Chris. He is an SEO genius in the internet space.
His SEO mastery course helped me like a no-brainer to outrank my competition within the first few months.
If you are really interested, I have written a complete review about this course. You can check it below.
Now that you’ve idea about SEO, it brings me to next topic

Sharing Your Posts on Social Media
Another easy way of driving visitors to your lifestyle blog is by sharing all your content on social media.
According to statistics, there are 3.96 billion active social media users in 2020. More than half of the world’s population! Isn’t it incredible?
While there’s a whole lot of people on social media, finding your visitors from there is one of the BEST ways around. Although it requires a lot of effort, it’ll be worth it if done right.
The most recommended option for social media is Pinterest. It’s growing as fast as a bullet moves.
Let me some share stats here;
55% of pinners use Pinterest to find fashion and style products and 90% of weekly users use Pinterest to help them make a purchase decision.
Do you see how powerful Pinterest is?
I’ve seen most of the successful bloggers get a tremendous amount of traffic from Pinterest.
Because of its user credibility, I always promote my blogs through Pinterest every time I publish new blog posts to increase my website traffic.
I agree that pinning through Pinterest is a tedious job, especially if you have many boards and group boards to pin on.
To make the pinning process easy I use Tailwind.
Tailwind is a lifesaver for me. It helps me to schedule posts, monitor conversations, amplify reach and analyze results, all in one place.
If you really want to master the art of driving tons of traffic to your blog using Pinterest I highly recommend the Pinterest Traffic Avalanche course for you.
Through this course you can get a bunch of videos that will walk you through step by step process.
Or if you love reading than watching videos, then I recommend Ana’s Pinterest ebook which is an affordable and value-packed ebook with complete information to learn everything about Pinterest.
It’s an amazing course that teaches everything from setting up an account on Pinterest and creating eye-catching pins to driving a lot of free visitors to tailwind strategies to monetizing your blog fast.

Effective Blogging Tips to Help You Succeed
Following are some really effective blogging techniques to help you make your blogging journey bring results.
Define Your Target Audience
Hey, you can be really excited to start a conversation with the readers and sharing your thoughts. But have you even defined what your target audience is?
What kind of people is going to read your content? If you haven’t yet, do consider this aspect.
For example, when you’re teaching how to make a specific dish, your target audience is probably the people who want to learn it or would like to do so – you cannot drag anyone to your site.
On top of that, writing specialized to the target audience looks more pleasing to them.
Creative Amazing and Exclusive Content
As someone new into blogging, we focus more on stealing others’ ideas or not focusing on true content creation.
Believe me, if you adopt the same behavior, getting succeeded at blogging will become really hard.
Always remember, the people come to your blog through content and for content.
If you’re unable to provide them with what they need, they won’t come to you again as they already know there’s a variety of lifestyle blogs featuring better content on the same topics.
The simple way of nailing whatever you create is applying the “10x content formula”.
Before we get into its details, let me tell you that actually working on it can be something really hard and take you over 15-30 days at creating one piece – but it’ll be worth it in the end.
Now, let’s come to the point, the 10x formula means creating 10 times better content than the top Google pages have provided on some topic.
Whatever you create must cover all the important aspects of that topic and help the readers solve their problem, or at least, give them what they expected.
